Reserve & Preserve:
Brain & Nervous System Classes
I’ve developed a lot of personal and professional reasons to study the brain and nervous system after:
Spending years assisting family members navigating dementia
Experiencing 15 concussions
Acquiring TBI induced Chiari syndrome
Working with thousands of clients and observing the links between movement/connective tissue and the brain/nervous system
This special interest has led me to get serious about answering one question:
How can we push back against neurological and physical degeneration before it takes hold — not just manage it after?
My physical therapy practice, Longevity Physical Therapy, is intentionally named. My interest has always been in proactive care.
I've been testing strategies aimed at training three specific things:
Brain reserve (hardware) - the physical and structural capacity of the brain, which determines how much neuropathology the organ can sustain before symptoms are experienced.
Cognitive reserve (software) - the functional adaptability of neural networks in the brain, enabling the brain to bypass damaged pathways and maintain normal mental performance.
Motor reserve (integrating hardware & software) - the specific capacity to preserve physical movement, coordination, and execute motor tasks despite structural damage or disease.
Thanks to my local clients, it has come to my attention that my community, like me, may be interested in improving & preserving brain health, reserve, autonomic function, or stress resilience.
Simultaneously, I’ve received a lot of requests for live Zoom classes like we had in early COVID, and I do see a lot of value in having a small community of like-minded humans that want to meet, train, and adapt together each week.
In terms of what these classes would look like:
The cost would likely fall between $25 and $50 per class (varying for monthly subscription vs. single classes).
Held over Zoom, with a recording of the class available for one week after each class - even if you miss the live class that week.
Involve “between class” exercises
Would apply the information & research that I cover in the Neurological Tuning & Human Matrix Connective Tissue courses
Please note: while I am a licensed physical therapist, these classes, if offered, would not constitute physical therapy and would not be eligible for insurance coverage or reimbursement.
