Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED ANY EQUIPMENT?

No equipment necessary. Most of what you need can be found around the house so you don’t need to buy any equipment at all!

While there are loads of classes, videos, and programs you can follow from home without equipment, have also recently added a new section (as requested by our subscribers) full of workouts and programs that you can do at the gym with equipment as well. This section is optional but is available to you in the Unlimited subscription.

WILL THIS HELP ME WITH MY SPORTS/ACTIVITIES?

A few goals of our platform include offering you tools to both improve your body’s individual parts (joints) and to improve how well they work together. Your joints make any movement that you do in any sport possible. Training to build better functioning joints that you can move/control through space then makes you more efficient and resilient when partaking in any activities or sports that involve those joints. Additionally, we also offer tools to help improve mobility. By improving your mobility you increase the ACCESS that you have to your body’s true range of motion. This also means access to more muscle that you can TRAIN, GROW AND USE in your other sports and activities.

You’re effectively upgrading your body’s machinery, giving it access to more machinery to use, and teaching your body how to use it.

WHAT IS KINSTRETCH?

Kinstretch is defined as “a movement enhancement system that develops maximal body control, flexibility, and usable ranges of motion” by Functional Range Systems (FRS). Here is a full blog explaining what Kinstretch is in detail.

WHAT TYPES OF KINSTRETCH CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE?

You will find 4 types of Kinstretch classes in the Joint Specific Classes section of OHF:

  1. Regular Kinstretch Classes:
This is the type of Kinstretch class that most people are familiar with. The emphasis in these classes is helping you gain more your range of motion and start to build some control and strength in your new and existing ranges of motion.

  2. Density Kinstretch Classes:
These are faster-paced Kinstretch classes that some describe as a circuit of Kinstretch exercises. Unlike the regular classes where you really expand your range of motion, these classes involve training and building control in your current accessible ranges of motion. The emphasis in these classes shifts from improving mobility to building neurological control in your existing range of motion while getting your heart rate up! You get little or no break between exercises.

  3. End Range Strength Kinstretch Classes:
The focus in these Kinstretch classes is preserving and building strength in your end range of motion. This is typically where we are most vulnerable (weakest) and is the range of motion that we are most susceptible to losing. AFTER you've consistently worked on the regular Kinstretch classes to expand your range of motion you can use these classes to preserve AND build strength, resilience, and tissue capacity in your end ranges of motion.

  4. Recovery Kinstretch Classes
These Kinstretch classes focus on improving recovery for specific tissues (tissue-focused rather than joint or movement-focused). They are great to do on your recovery days when you are feeling sore from gym workouts, sports/activities, or from doing the higher-effort Kinstretch classes. They can be used to reduce muscle soreness, mitigate or reduce post-exercise stiffness, and improve recovery by getting the blood flowing to the tissue WITHOUT fatiguing it.

Lastly, we have other (non-Kinstretch) classes and programs available within the platform as well. For example, the Human Infrastructure program and classes have been a favourite and you will hear these classes referred to often in the subscriber testimonial videos!

IS OHF THE SAME AS KWA (KINSTRETCH WITH ALEX)?

We expanded and Kinstretch with Alex (KWA) is now a section of Operation Human First! That means that when you subscribe to OHF you automatically get access to all past, current and future Kinstretch content in addition to the many other (new) sections that exist in OHF.

You will find libraries of joint-specific Kinstretch classes, skill-specific Kinstretch classes, recovery classes, Kinstretch exercise libraries, loads of tips for Kinstretch, and gym workouts that include Kinstretch in Operation Human First (see the chart at the bottom of the page).
